February 2022 Lego Builds

My lego obsession is in full swing now, so I thought I would tell you what I have been building this month.

I have been coveting for months the 76193 - Lego The Guardians' Ship.

I have been told that it has an actual name (Benatar), which surprises me that Lego don't reference it as that

Anyway, I bought this set for several reasons; It is huge (physically in dimensions, and in number of pieces!), It is beautiful, but most of all cos I love the marvel cinematic universe!

I realise that I am fortunate enough to be able to splurge on something like this every now and then, and not everyone is (I knew loving computers would pay off one day). This is not a review of this product, I just wanted to share a passion of mine.

Anyway, what is it like? Well it's nearly 2000 pieces, so it's the biggest set I have ever made.
It is very orange. It has 6 cool guardians minifigs. It has its own lego built stand, and again, it's very cool.

In the box there are 14 bags, and a novel of an instruction book.

I tried to restrict myself to only one bag a day, and eek out the build. It is very expenseive, so I want to savour it for as long as possible.

When I started this article, I had only built 4 bags, which was the bottom of the ship, half a wing, Starlord, a Chitari Warrior and Mantis minifigs.

The way the wing was built simply astounded me, such clever engineering in Lego form, some true engineering.

The last few days of february were some holiday days for me, and I could not resist completing the build.
It is a beautiful product, it is very cleverly engineered, I love its display stand (also made from lego). I find myself staring at it quite a bit, in awe of how it is put together with its unusual angles and smoothness.

It has a real presence in the room.

It is not really a model to play with, the wing tips are a little fragile, but it is definetly a stunning display piece!

Other lego things I have been building

In the massive mixed bundle of Lego I have purchased over the last few years, I have found some half built models, and tried to reassemble them.

This time it was the turn of 4643- Power Boat Transporter.

I had found all the pieces except a missing a key piece. The flatbed base, but I managed to build my own variation of it using standard bricks, which works like a charm. It is not quite a rigid, but has held up to play well enough.

I am also looking for the pieces of a Superman: Battle of Smallville set I think have. I noticed some odd shapes and stickers, and with the help of rebrickable and brickset I have determined what set it belongs too!

Looking at the part list I thought I had everything but the minifigs, and barring one awkward piece to find, I think I have it all. So that will be a fun superman space ship set to build for Mr 6yo

My son also built the Pop Up Party Bus set from Lego movie 2 this month. It was a great build, and it has such fun playable bits on it for a 6 year old. He loves it.

We flew it to different lego planets (star wars world, marvel world, sea world and friends ville) to have disco parties with each. It has been fun, and a great way to bring all the models we have built together.

We have also finished creating the tavern of his LEGO SET 31109-1 - Pirate Ship B-model. A beautiful build and inventive too, I enjoyed it more than him I think, I specifically love the water wheel.

Phew it's been a busy lego time recently, so a bit quieter for a while I imagine, but perhaps my next coveted set Ecto-1 could be a birthday present. Who knows.
