Atlassian Products

This is not an advert for this company or the tools, just my thoughts on them.

Today with my new job I have to use Atlassian tools.

Specifically Jira, Confluence, BitBucket & Bamboo.

Jira is a project management tool specifically aimed at "Agile" systems.

Confluence is a team workspace for project docs and team collaboration. Think of it as a "Super Wiki" with collaboration features that is versioned.

BitBucket is a GIT based version control system. It has CI etc built in now too, but we are not using that.

Bamboo is a self hosted "Build & Artifacts" server.

I have never used these before, but with my experience of other tools like Trac, Redmine, GitLab and Jenkins means that these tools feel familiar to me.

I like the way Confluence seamlessly handles versioning of documents.
Jira does not feel very user friendly. I struggle to find the features I want.
BitBucket works fine, although the inability to build Windows based apps in there CI pipelines is a big problem.
Bamboo sucks. Its hard to navigate, and is incredibly limiting without paying a fortune. Jenkins does a far better job for free!

On top of those 4 products, I am also using SourceTree for a GIT UI, which I like more and more.
