Why Does It Feel Weird That People Are Reading My Blog

I posted on twitter that it felt weird that people were actually reading my blog and Kuvondik Sayfiddinov asked could I describe that feeling!"

So here goes...

I started this blog as a learning experience on how to build a blog site in Blazor For FREE:
How I Built This Blog
How I Built This Blog Part 2
How I Built This Blog Part 3
Setting Up My Custom Domain

Writing content itself was always secondary to that.
However the more I write posts that describe my journey developing the website, the more I have felt that I want to write.

I have written a couple of non technical posts now too:
Its Been A Year
Being the Executor of Someones Will
Being a 5 Year Old

So that weird feeling is there because I'm not sure I want people to read these things, but I absolutely love that they do.

Do I want the world to see the pain I feel over the loss of my brother?

Do they need to see how inept I am at UI (just look at it)?

Do they need to hear the ramblings of a tired 43 year old parent?

Well no, but I also want to be able to expand this website, and traffic to it, will encourage me to do that.

The other big desire I have is writing about my technical challenges. My last job was so bleeding edge that I learnt so much. I regret now not writing more of that journey down (certainly publicly).

I was taught in my very first software roles 25 years ago that we had to keep a log of what we did, I have always kept notes, but in recent times I have found they have got less and less.

So I'm here to remedy that too, and record my learnings just for me. If someone else reads them, then great, but they are mostly for me and my journey.

One day I will aim for an MVP or something like that, but right now, this is for me.

This is why it feels weird, it feels like you are reading my diary, which I left in full view, taped to the front door, wide open and in a large font for everyone to read.

Mark
